Preface

Let us enter into the action alongside Françoise LEMAÎTRE-LEROUX and take our places.

From the most prestigious Formula 1 circuits to the Olympic stadiums, the artist invites us to enter these places
where the clamour of supporters resounds, and where there is a combination of heat and tension, challenge
            and suspense.

With realism and originality, she presents the legendary figures in these disciplines and the fascination that they
            induce in the public.

The athletes’ muscles are drawn, tense with effort, the faces are contorted, and engines growl beneath
            gleaming chassis.
From the Ferrari Scuderia to the great champions, LEMAÎTRE-LEROUX magnifies the victory, the success after
the exertion, following the example of her own career path.

This emphasis on triumph is rendered possible thanks to an impeccable technique: command of movement,
powerful use of colour, and graphical perfection unite in the service of this sporting aesthetic.

Here, there is no need to be a sports “fanatic” to grasp the force which emanates from her work.
Through this retrospective, we realize that it is a genuine talent we are hailing, the talent of a woman who
knows how to ally audacity with perseverance in order to turn her aspirations into reality, guided in this by a
decisive encounter with Salvador Dali, a Master who revolutionized modern art.
Let us open wide our eyes and, confronted with a giant in the field, hold our breath…
